One of the Town of Southampton’s newest beach acquisitions has a popular history with locals and is now about to get a facelift.
The Town Board recently awarded the contract to JNS Contracting and construction is currently under way. The 9-acre Hot Dog Beach property was purchased through the Town’s CPF department in 2003 after a fire had destroyed a restaurant that had stood there until the late 1990’s. The current construction at the beach includes restoring and re-decking the existing boardwalks that provide access to the ocean, building a new ADA compliant ramp, handrails, and deck platform, installing a concrete pad with 5 ADA parking spaces, new electric service, and security lighting. This project is being funded by Park Reserve Funds, CPF, and CDBG. Construction is anticipated to be completed fall/winter 2018.
