What happens if I pay my taxes late?
First half taxes paid (or postmarked) after January 10 can still be paid to the Tax Receiver, with 1% interest added to the base amount each month. Taxes paid after May 31 will incur a 5% penalty and 5% interest on the balance.

An additional one percent will be added to the balance each month until the taxes are paid in full to the Suffolk County Treasurer’s Office. By law, the Town cannot accept any payments after May 31. Balance information at that time can be obtained from the Treasurer by calling (631) 852-3000. Their address is 330 Center Drive, Riverhead, NY 11901-3311.
