1. Southampton Town Parks & Recreation Launches Passport Parking App for Daily Parking Permits

The Town of Southampton has begun conducting a pilot program this summer to test the sale of daily beach parking permits using the Passport Mobile Pay Parking App, and utilize license plate reader (LPR) technologies for enforcement.  

2. How will this affect me in the 2023 season?

Daily Parking Permits will need to be purchased using the Passport Parking App at certain beach locations.  This does not affect Full Season permit holders this season, but the Town plans to phase in electronic beach parking permits and eliminate permit decals in future years.

3. At which beach locations will I need to use the Passport Parking App to purchase a Daily Parking Permit?

Currently at Tiana, Hot Dog, Sagg Main and Mecox Beach but additional beach locations may be added in the coming weeks. Beaches that offer daily permits but do not have mobile pay will continue to sell hang tag permits.

4. How do I pay using the Passport Parking App?

1.  Download the Passport Parking app from the App Store or Google Play. A web version is also available at PassportParking.com.

2.  Find Your Zone. Look for the unique zone number on Passport Parking signs and decals.

3.  Pay. Enter your session information. & choose a payment method.

4.  Manage on the Go. Receive alerts & send email receipts of your parking session.

It is important to note that available parking is not guaranteed.  Therefore, Pay-By-App customers should only purchase parking after they successfully secured a parking space. 

Daily parking permits can be purchased 7 days at Foster Memorial, Ponquogue, Tiana, Hot Dog and Pikes.  M-F Mecox and T-F at Sagg Main.

5. How will an enforcement officer know if I have paid for my session and have a valid daily permit?

When using the app, customers must enter their license plate number as part of the transaction.  When the transaction is complete, the customer’s plate number is entered onto the “valid” list for the day parking was purchased. 

6. What if I park in the lot without paying?

In the lots where Passport Mobile Pay is offered, the plates of parked cars will be scanned by enforcement vehicles, plate numbers that are not found to be on the “valid” list will be ticketed.   

7. What if an enforcement vehicle scans my plate and it is not on the “valid” list but I have a 2023 full season permit decal on my vehicle?

If a plate does not come up as “valid,” the officer will check for a valid permit decal and other authorized permits before ticketing.
