Southampton Town Disability Task Force Publishes
Disability Resource Guide
Pursuant to Resolution 2024-401, the Southampton Town Disability Task Force has published a community resource guide for special needs adults and children. This step falls in line with best practices of other towns that have issued similar resources for residents, like in Brookhaven Town, that centralize resources in one place.
The Town’s new Resource Guide provides a range of various resources in the public and private sector that can provide assistance with jobs, education, careers, and access to social welfare programs. The guide is broken down into various categories such as transportation, life skills, education, employment, recreation and socialization, and more.
Councilmember Michael Iasilli, who is liaison to the Disability Taskforce stated, “This is a positive step forward toward revitalizing our commitment to serving the special needs community and connecting families to services. I am proud of the work done by the members of the Task Force, including the leadership of Jamie Bowden, Southampton Town Community Organization Specialist, and the Town’s ADA coordinator, Sean Cambridge.”
