Dear Resident,
We are writing to inform you of the upcoming survey fieldwork associated with the Southampton to Deerfield Project, an underground transmission project in your area. Beginning within the next few weeks, a contractor for the project will be conducting test pit surveys to locate and confirm the depth of existing underground utilities within the road right of way.
What You Can Expect:
- Location of Work:
- Test Pitting will be performed within Village, Town, and County rights-of-way along the following roads: North Sea Road, Willow Street, North Main Street, North Sea Mecox Road, David Whites Lane, Edge of Woods Road, and Water Mill Towd Road.
- Work Hours:
- This work is anticipated to begin in January, pending permits from the Town and Village. This activity will take approximately 8 weeks for completion by crews working Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm.
- Crews will be at one area for 1-2 days and then move to the next location.
- Activities:
- Test pits will be performed using a combination of hand tools, including shovels, jackhammers, air knives, and vacuum excavation equipment.
- There will be no road closures required. Traffic controls and flaggers will be in place when necessary. Please be patient when driving through the work area.
- No driveways or access points will be blocked.
- The work activities will comply with New York State standards and specifications for sediment control. Test pit holes will be backfilled once completed, and our contractor will responsibly dispose of any spoils generated from the activities.
- Roadways will be restored as required by local road opening permits.
