Town of Southampton, NY January 25, 2026 — Due to the current weather conditions being experienced in the Town, and the expectation that negative impacts from the current winter storm will persist into Monday, January 26, 2026, all Southampton Town facilities will be closed on Monday.
Southampton Town Highway Department, Parks Maintenance and Municipal Works crews are currently out in full force actively trying to stay on top of the rapidly falling snow in the face of deteriorating weather conditions. High rates of snowfall, coupled with windy conditions are presenting challenges to crews right now. Residents are urged to stay off the roads and avoid travel if at all possible.
Different reports indicate that 5 or 6 inches of snow may have already fallen in different parts of Southampton. The forecast is calling for potentially another 6 inches or more of snow before the end of the day on Sunday. It is also expected that there will be a shift to ice or a wintry mix later today, which could have additional negative impacts.
“In order to give our hard-working Highway Department, Parks Maintenance and Municipal Works crews an opportunity to catch up, and keep up, with the high rate of snowfall, as well as to ensure that our facilities are safe for public access, we have decided to close all Town facilities on Monday, January 26, 2026,” said Supervisor Maria Moore. “The Town continues to monitor the situation and is working hard to maintain public safety during this winter storm,” Moore went on to say.
“The Town’s Emergency Operation Center is open and monitoring storm conditions,” said Town Emergency Manager Ryan Murphy. “All residents are urged to stay off the roads and avoid travelling. Conditions outside are deteriorating and we may face whiteout conditions with very little visibility at different times during the storm,” Murphy said. Murphy also encouraged residents to sign up for Town alerts via Notify Me on the Town’s website, as well as to stay tuned to the Town’s social media for updates, information and winter weather tips.
